ITEM ANALYSIS OF MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS: AN ASSESSMENT OF YOUNG LEARNERS

Although English has been taught for decades in Indonesia, the quality of multiple-choice question given to young learners was hardly examined. To touch on issue, this study aims at determining 10 questions (MCQs) a public elementary school terms difficulty level (P), discrimination power (D), and distractor efficiency (DE). This employed cross-sectional obtain information evaluate MCQs students’ tests. It found items were efficient which 80% them have acceptable 20% fairly easy (P 70%). The index 8 (80%) excellent 2 good. Among 40 distractors, 32 functional distractors while non-functional (NFDs). can be concluded that most acceptable, In efficiency, two completely inefficient. Furthermore, are considered poor should revised, re-tested, reviewed before incorporating into future test. hopefully encourages teachers identify poorly developed improve their quality.
